Default 5.0 headers

A question for the 5.0 swap guys.

The OE headers are leaky… I’m at 37 ft-lbs and getting anxious about going tighter. The factory spec is 26-32. Right now they only tick when the engine is cold so I can live with that for awhile.

Shopping around for future replacements. What will fit in a 240 without modification? Are long tubes possible?

We're putting a 302 in our Lemons racecar, and we've had to modify both headers a little bit. Mostly to tuck them closer to the block. We're using a pair of mismatched random craigslist headers, but if you're starting from scratch, Ranger swap headers are pretty close to what you'll end up needing.

The OE Foxbody headers fit nicely in my car. Just a small indent to fit around the steering shaft was needed.

If you measure how much space you have, then you could call up these guys and see if they have specs. If they don't, I'm sure the manufacturers would.

Hit them with the big belt sander and get them flat?

^This. Scrub them flat on the belt rig or the mill & the fixture or on a table with a big mill-bastard fire for metal carefully and warm them up and properly drill & weld the crack?

Do you want more power & to deal with something (more) custom or just function/OE metal known to fit and work and be replaceable/in the junkyards on every F-body V8 & to fix the problem?
