Hello,

I apopogize - this is probably already in a post somewhere but I could not find it.
I have a B230FT in a 67 Amazon - I need to identify the engine - the codes are:
B230FT 1289151 03695
Thanks

What do you want to decode other than it's a B230FT?
Are those the numbers from the timing cover sticker, right?

Yes, 1289151 is shown in the '88-'90 740 parts catalog. That part number was only available in '88.

Thank you all for your responses - an 88 automatic aligns with the prior owners memory - the car was owned in a prior time by a Volvo Specialist in Salt Lake City Utah - he swapped in the engine and trans from a car that was wrecked right after he rebuilt the engine I was told. So it's a 9 mm rod then-good to know. I had a 90 740T some years ago. And I had Amazons years ago. So this car seemed like a perfect toy. Thanks

Follow up opinion

Hello - I found my older post so I am piggy backing on it for prior research - I have a 88 B230ft with customary piston slap - I need to pull the engine this winter already - So question is since I am only going to run 14lb boost at times and stay with stock Bosch management would it make sense to refresh this engine? Or should I source a 90+ short block? Thanks

i ran 17 psi without problems on a unknown mileage skinny rod that only blew up after 9k km because i wanted to know what it looks like after 28ish psi (gauge maxes out at 28 so i dont actually know how much )and way too much timing
