Default Volvo tuning

Hi

So I got my first volvo which is 940 2.3 turbo estate 1997 with manual gearbox.
Could you help me out to identify which kind of engine do I have and which things I need to do to get about 250 hp or so?

Hi

you have b230 Ft for HPT or Fk for LPT (high or low pressure, both is the same turbo) doesnt matter for your goal.

250hp should work on Oem 13c turbo with at least 2.5" exhaust (not the oem one) some chip and biger injectors + 3" Amm.

it has a plenty of stages explained here or in the web, search by google

Where are you coming from? If Europe, get a Simons 2 1/2" exhaust system. Friend has it on his 16T 945 with sport cat. Fitting
great and it is not loud.

If youre from Europe get a JT - Exhaust its senseless in my eyes to mount simons 2,5" with Oem Cat....

Ferrita produced also some Exhaust Systems, theyre expensive but good.

With mbc on Oem cat 1.3 bar Max. we tried it also up to 1.5 but then, he pushes more hot air and you'll have Pinging.

Go on Ngk BPR7ES (or 8 ) or Bosch Wr5Dc+ (or 6)

Remove EGR!

-your Stock exhaust is 2.25 inches in Diameter. Find someone to make you a 2.5 inch to 3 inch down pipe from the turbo all the way to the back of the car. If you have to smog it you'll need a new catalytic converter.
-Turn up boost to 12-15psi
-The 3" air mass meter can be had from a 960 or s90 with the inline 6 engine I believe.
-Contact member here. "Thelostartof" he makes custom chips for LH2.4 turbo cars.
-I'm not sure where you are from but there are lots of performance turbo cam options all around the world. (John V will attest that the stock T cam is capable of good power)
-You might consider having a new head gasket put in for insurance. while head is off Hog around the bowls a little and gasket match the head/intake/exhaust manifolds for more efficient air flow.
-Bigger injectors
-Wideband O2 sensor is a really good idea unless you want to call the koolaid man.
