Default Evo turbos, which Evo?!

Morning!

I'm on the hunt for a 16G, some people say the Evo 8 is the one to have but what's the difference between that and an earlier one? I found a 7 16G http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121970627079 yay or nay? Hopefully the link works.

Ben.

Fabricator by trade, making things fit isn't an issue.

I'm sure it was TLAO that said the Evo 8 turbo is the one to have for 350-400 and an awesome curve.

Fige had an Evo 8 turbo on his b230. The evo8/9 turbos work really good but because of the shape are a bit odd to make fit.

8 and 9 turbos are a twin-scroll housing, so fab accordingly. I believe the 7 or older is not.

They are really odd shaped and can be a little bit of a pain to fit.

We changed the design of the #1 runner later on to have two small 45's vs the big 90 to clean things up later but otherwise that setup made the above dyno.

those evo turbos are neat, the small turbo + twin scroll setup should be very responsive... you just need to make a manifold from scratch to make it work.

evo9 is arguably the best one, bigger hot side and larger compressor cover

The evox is the best as (do not quote me on this) it is a td06-20g turbo. Harder to find and a bit more expensive. The best thing about the 8/9 turbos is they can be had for $150-200 pretty normally.
