Home page Feature Car of the....

Would we be able to say have a car of the month rather then car of the 6 month's??? It'd be kewl to read about other rides then just one everytime someone visit's the board. with 5000+ members think we should be able to do it. And since the Feature car's are archived so they won't be lost..

Well just some thought's To show an Active Volvo community. ;-)
 
That would be sweet, I agree that more cars should be highlighted on this board. However, I understand that time constraints of the admin and moderators might make such a task easier said than done.
 
Issue 1: Most cars are a work in progress, and thus aren't really "magazine" quality.

Issue 2: If we could get someone to do the writeup, it wouldn't be a problem to have a new feature car every month.

These are easily overcome. Any volunteers?

And to add to that, anyone have suggestions on whose car you'd like to read more about, or do you have a car that we could feature?

I'll bet that alot of people would be more than willing to do a write up on their own car if it's is chosen. Maybe we could start a thead with sugestions, or post them here, from which the moderators pick from, and then if the owner is interested in a writing about their car they can be featured for that month. You could even pick a few cars at a time, allowing everyone more time do do their own write ups.
 
I guess true most are work in Progress but say showing some clean Rides Like chesh740, some of those swedes :-D and many other's with some Nice rides. Doing the write-up takes a while but I'm sure most would indulge in being chosen to show off there ride as a home page car.

And my 744 is not front page worthy I know that due to 450000km of use and body not being straight. I know that.

But yea If Someone with a Nice clean car should start a write-up on there car and get themselves out there lol
 
we could also do a spread on new members cars and show them off as up and comers.

I agree, I think that's a great Idea, nobody knows a car and how to describe it better than the person that built it, maybe there could be another section on the site where people could look at the write-ups and view other peoples rides or something of that nature. Just food for thought.
 
Agreed..Chesh should do one..i fear he might be a lil reluctant though. When i get my stuff straight..i would like to do one but...HA! not any time soon.
 
Not to take anything away from Daves car, I love it. But I would like to see some other cars even if they are not as perfect as his. just my 2 cents

Hey e-man i agree with you to the maxx............. dave your car is dope, and so is doug's whip, but its kinda like an old porno, you look at it after a while i just isnt as exciting anymore when you keep looking and looking and looking at it over and over again.... i used the get a full on for both of those cars, but now i can only seem to muster a good semi. it would be nice to see some other cars...... i would really like to see a spread on i think its grebnuts?? who mounted his intercooler and radiator unique and other various things i forgot to mention....

I agree that it would be nice to see more cars, but I can also understand that it takes time to write up an article. However, maybe you could make up a questionaire that people would fill out like they have on Swedespeed. "Autobiography" This would streamline the process a bit, and I'm sure there would be many people who would submit their cars.

Do they need to be magazine quality?
I mean, I don't want either of my Volvos up on the front page but there a bunch of cars with lots of work and some unique ideas that could help out people who are still working on theirs.

Nope. That was my nice way of saying that many are no where near magazine quality. My car has a lot of modifications to almost all aspects of the car, but it's not really front page worthy. It's not that nice up close, the paint is flawed, the wheels are average, and so on. I know of several cars like this. They're above average, but not quite there yet.

If you have a clean car (well kept, nice paint, nice seats/interior, and physically clean), some modifications, something unique or unusual, and some pictures & stories to share, I'd say just about anything could qualify from "in progress" to "daily driver" to "weekend racer." I'd actually like to see an "in progress" car be featured, including before/after pictures, lessons learned, performance gained, etc.

I think there was some chance that John Lane's rally car would be featured, and Nick Choy's wagon when it was finished with major body work.
 
so far its been difficult to track down people worthy of a front page feature for the season, and the 7 that i have lined up are as mentioned still work in progress.

As it stands its hard enough to get 4 cars a year (jan, april, july, oct)... the last 2 cars were writen by the owners, so my parts easy
 
p.s. dont mean to sound like a broken record here, but honestly.... theres 50+ article roughdrafts in the article composition forum that need only minor touchup to be submitted for the site. That should be where our volunteer focus is directed.
 
I am not trying to be a pain, I love this site and how professional the front page looks. However if the decision was up to me alone I would maybe put some work in progress cars up there, as long as they look pretty darn good. Every few weeks I say my car is done... in reality it will never be done I will always want more and more. I assume everyone elses car is the same way. Just a thought

well yeah, i mean all the cars that are up there now are still more or less work in progress... however they're together enough to not look like a project. You're more than welcome to track down features you'd like to see and run them by me, if its something that works you can take it and write up the article and send it in for the next spot.. right now im scrounging to fill the Jan '05 spot since it fell through... still leaves 3 more this year
