Default 5.0L ignition coil to OE tach

I had to replace the temp gauge in my cluster using the one from a spare cluster I had for a clock/tach swap... so I decided to carry on with the swap while I have it out.

I could not find the white/red wire for the tach. Being that it was a V8 swapped diesel it might not be there anymore... idk. The car does have an aftermarket tach installed.

Am I dreaming to suggest splicing the ignition coil negative lead from the aftermarket tach directly into the OE tach in the cluster? Or does some magic have to happen first?

Thanks.

You can do that, but you'll get a 8 cylinder tach signal to a 4 cylinder tach

Hi all I have a 1990 740 my hood release cable broke and came right out of the car into my hand, the passenger side is popped but the drivers side is not. Is there a way to manually pop this hood as I have a new cable on the way. Thx in advance
