Default 240 Blower Motor & Resistor

yep it's time for a new blower motor yay

so I almost got the Chinese VDO motor at FCP until I read that they suck and Four Seasons motor is better so I ordered that.

So for the resistor FCP has Genuine Volvo and Skandix both say made in Germany and have the same pic...

Anyone seen them, one better than the other? Thx

Four seasons made in China too. Everything is made in China now. I always look for nos made in Canada motor. That motor will be whining within a year. I'd stick with the genuine volvo resistor. Skandix reuse photos of stock parts.

hmm, I thought I was getting a Canada one, we'll see what shows up. My original resistor still works fine I thought I'd change it out just because

The motor Volvo sells is made in Taiwan. It's the only one I've seen that comes with the rubber tube for the wires to pass through. The problem is the cost. You can only buy it in a kit that comes with the fan wheels and it's over $350 and you still need the resistor.

Volvo gold for sure. Anyone remember Bill Chebb who used to rebuild heater fan motors for Volvos and other cars? He was in Canada and back then his ball bearing rebuilt heater fan motors were $150 plus shipping.

I wouldn’t install an MTC motor if they gave it to me. Literally every single part I have seen done by MTC is pure garbage. Pick up a Four Seasons motor and if it has any issues upon inspection send it back. The VDO motors are definitely garbage.

I would not install anything but the OE resistor. It’s just too much work to go back in for any kind of a problem.

I've had some four seasons that were made in Canada and another one made in China. So its really a toss up these days. Taiwan=China.

Made in China does not mean it’s junk. Poor quality control is why the VDO motors are junk.

I have the VDO motor and on top of it spinning the wrong way initially it is QUITE loud. Everyone who drove it while I was back home mentioned it unprompted fairly quickly. And now I'm fixated on it.

Could probably find the contact information in an old issue of Rolling magazine. I think he lived in Edmonton, Canada.

I think he used to advertise in the classified ads of the old VCOA Rolling magazines. Maybe take a look there?
