Default Randy Pobst Drove and Crashed my car @ the Pittsburg Lemons Race

As what seems to be a tradition (crashing other peoples lemons car, which I am guilty of) it continues... No real damage, just good stories, and more character for the car!!!

Randy “Crash” Pobst. He has crashed quite a few cars lately. Did he sign it somewhere?

Yea, I made him sign my bumper and he signed the porsches bumper.

Luckily it was a nice square contact and 850s have nice and cushy bumpers.

Sounds like he signed both, the Volvo and the Porsche.

This 850 is the best ever.... there's a few reasons for it. They don't come this way stock.

Not really, IMO. The Porsche driver never should have jammed on the brakes like that. Just let off the gas and let the car slow down. Stuff happens.

*Pittsburgh, you monster. lol

Agreed about the Porsche jamming the brakes. Not being very astute. If someone is flying up on you and you jam the brakes, you sort of have to assume what might happen next.

I counted :04 between brakes being let off and the hit

Hard to know without being in there obviously. Not trying to be a back seat quarterback (while backseat quarterbacking lol)

The 'Whoa!!! Ahhhh.. ASS HOLE!" is cracking me up. There's still that half second until he realizes the yellow flag was out.

That's the problem with in car cameras with a good mic. I'm trying to get used to my new GoPro that hears everything I say, including all the swearing.

It looks like Randy had a little bit of the red mist going on trying to pass that Porsche. He's enough of a pro that he should have seen the yellow and the hand out the window.

He sure is fast though.

That was my takeaway, too. REAL fast and super confident/brave. In this case, perhaps it bit him, but I guess you can't win if you're not on the edge.

I just watched this yesterday. That is a great car you built Ben! Love the part with them removing the piece of Porsche from your bumper. Randy was out braking or out handling most every car on the track. Great video!

Damn, the 850 looks like it is very well sorted! The hit sounded/looked much harder in the in-car video... your front end damage was much less than I expected to see.

Came here to say this. When I first saw the damage I was thinking it was just going the be a kiss/bonk.

What were his lap times in comparison to the rest of the teams? Car is looking/sounding really sorted

After the hit, Randy was very concerned about the radiator when we were talking on the radio. I think it helped both cars are pretty soft in the area of collision and it wasn't an offset impact

There is a lot of styrofoam-type material under the 850 front bumper cover. I think it does a really good job at dissipating the energy. Much better then the gas shocks on a 240.

I think it also helped that the porshe was slow but not stopped. The delta in Velocity was much lower that way.
