Default volvo 740 turbo to volvo 242 gague cluster swap

I'll make this one short,

will a volvo 740 turbo gague cluster fit a 81 242, and if not how extensive would it be to modify one to fit.

thanks

No, 740 cluster is much larger. You'd have to cut gauges off the side and the result would be a taller 240 cluster.

Have you even looked at the two clusters?

This is Tb… of course it will fit… and the wiring will connect seamlessly.

Try changing the gauge faces if you want something custom looking.

You can buy and install a tachometer in your existing cluster. Way less sawzall and twist connectors than running a 740 cluster

I wanna say someone bastardized a 7/9 tach into a 240 cluster here once, don't try to repeat it it's in no way with doing anything but a normal large tach

If it's the backlit look of the 7 series gauges you like. VDO sells Cockpit Vision series gauges that you can fit to the dash. In the upper radio cubby
you can fit three gauges like the turbos and two gauges fit next to the cluster. Volvo made all the dash trim for the gauges and people here sell that stuff and on ebay. Might even be able to get some stuff new from
Volvo. Sitting in the warehouse all dusty.
