i just bought a 89 240 wgn & there is a clicking sound from the rear of the car at low speeds (under 10mph) & when i turn corners. In the past i have owned volkswagons and it is a similer clicking that a C.V. would make. My knowledge to volvos is near minimal could be look @ axles?

also

when i accelerate from a stop slowly it almost feels like the rear end is shifting to the right and @ any speed when i let off the gas i hear a noise from the rear (i dont want say a thud because its not that loud)

Center support bearing and spring.

Sometimes the spring will make noise if it gets pulled out of the support bushing and interferes with the driveshaft.

Of course, the rear-end can make clicking sounds too (right before it dies :) ), but that probably isn't your problem unless you (or the PO) have been doing long, stinky, halfway down the street burnouts.
