A/C Question

I'm new to this thing called Air Conditioning, But in my 92 960, is it normal for the 2 outside vents to be colder then the ones above the radio? They seems a good couple degrees hotter then the smaller ones on the outter edges of the dash. Oh and do i have R134? Theres a stamp on top of my A/C Can by the firewall that has 1999 on it, Dunno if it was replaced then or if thats when they changed to 134

Any Idea's?
