![]() Been looking for another project because I am 100 percent done with all my other projects. (liar)
Been eyeing CL on a 78 242 that was $800.00, I thought it might be worth it but has a nasty wrecked 1/4 panel. Well the price dropped to $500.00 and then disappeared. Figured it was sold. Days later it is back on CL. So I check it out this morning and can't decide if I can live with the red interior? So I offer a little less and he bites Now I have 3 Volvo's in the shop. Enjoyed the drive home even with the quirks. Might reconsider the engine swap idea.

![]() Love the side panels, but wish the carpet and seats matched. 3 very different reds.
But It'll wait. Bigger fish to fry like the wasted RR 1/4 panel. Which years interchange? And the Darth Vader hiss from under the dash when you press the brake pedal. Vac. leak somewhere? Do the bumper absorbers pull back out after collapse? Seat foam swap from side to side? Why does it smell like crayons inside the car? Dads 2001 Tacoma did too. Idles rough (back to vac. leak?) ODO doesn't work, I'll end up wearing out the search button with all my studies. ![]() Car was way sportier than I suspected. Even my wife liked driving it. Looks to have IPD bars front and for sure rear. |

![]() 1974-78 interchange, quarter panel-wise. You could possibly lop the rear edge off mine and weld, but mine is for 1979-on cars. Would work as a spare for your Bert as is, tho. Got a pic of the damage?

![]() Swap-wise, I'd swap a M46 in, fix the vacuum leaks, get the mixture adjusted, and enjoy the car.

![]() Nice buy. Look forward to seeing what you end up doing with it. Ford, Chevy, White Block?? I would say you have the Ford option down pat. Haha

![]() To each their own, but I love the red interior. I agree that all the reds should match, but that is easier said than done on dissimilar materials that will fade differently. Did the cars that originally came with red interior have door pulls and pockets that were black or red? My ultimate 240 would be a black coupe with red interior.

![]() Nice find. Newer windshield too. Pic of damaged 1/4 panel? Rare color combo, it'll grow on you. Enjoy.

![]() I do not. I hardly got it up to 60 as Seattle area traffic is pathetic. When I did get there (or close) it vibrated pretty good. Tires are close to shot.

![]() M45/46 cars before 1981 were usually 3.91. Really early 240s were frequently 4.10, sometimes 4.30. 70 mph was usually 4200 rpm with a M45 and 4.10 combination.

![]() Ok, so I'd check the red 242 at Tumwater and see if the metal is decent. If you got mine, you'd need to get the tail panel and the driver's quarter, plus a trunk lid to make it work... That, and taillights, plus the upper rubber moulding.

![]() Pick-n-Pull. Was on CL in Auburn this past spring. Twin of your car, except for it being red and having been swapped to dual 5.75" rounds. It does have a good black GT front bunper, which might be nice to swap onto your car.

![]() Oi
![]() Doing it that way you're just gonna deform or break anything salvageable to a state beyond salvage. You've got to pull with a winch/come-along at the seams, steady pull and help with body hammers of various consistencies and shapes. Pull, hammer, pull, hammer, pull... lather rinse repeat. |
