engine - note the disconnected overflow bottle - I had to remove the air box to get to the bumper bolt

I believe that's a photo of Tom Jones, c. 1982 there...crumb, where's my walker..:omg::nod:

Tom Jones for sure

Myles - Big reason why Im keeping it. I love welding but I already fixed my 245 floors once. I don't feel like doing that again

car came with some hipster luggage.

under all the newspapers inside I found mint 75 green book service manual and an accessory catalog. Good thing because I never worked on a b20

BTW is there an air intake mani for the K-jet b20s that doesn't have egr and air injection?

Yes 73 was still D-jet with a similar throttle cable type intake manifold, and 75 was the last year of the B20.

Question:

What's slower than a 69 145 with a B18?

;-)

^that bad huh?

wasn't last year for the b18 1969?

looked over the manual. K jet seems pretty straight forward to work on. ditching the air pump and egr looks easy- no electronic controls is nice

this will help "tremendously"
- federal vs cali looks impressive until you see the data - I love how 130bhp is way way north of there
good for 3-4hp and 10Nm - trow you back into your seat

92 raging horsepowers...

It's not bad at all with a pressure rig, and the right order of steps performed, the tricky part is working on the fuel distributor.

Wow, that is a nice one.

The B20 and three speed auto make for the slowest car I've ever driven.

The '75s are pretty special though.

Yes they are!
"Original unrestored" Wife doesnt care about fast cars. I'm just the custodian for now

Nice find! I wish there were more barns to find things in FL....heck, I just wish there were more old volvos in FL in general..
Thank you. Cali is pretty special when it comes to old cars.

drained about 8 galons of gas.
quite a bit of rust came out also

I had to modify my 3/4" to fit the drain plug because it was too big and 1/2" was too small

rust out of tank

the drain plug from this car is on LEFT (EDIT: I originally had this backwards)
on the RIGHT is from another 75 but that car that RAN without issues....

The filter is made of brass and apparently can be removed to clean

What other than replacing the tank can be done?
(I have plenty of later model tanks but the 75s are different and it would require some work to get it done)

If you don't want to go the Eastwood or similar tank renewal kit path, your best bet is probably going to be a replacement tank. Certainly would be a lot less expensive.

I had a similar situation when I revived my 77 242; sat for about six years and was full of water and rust. I ended up finding a decent and inexpensive tank via Rock Auto; definitely isn't close to OEM quality, but it works.

The '75s are different.

I wound up welding mine after a teenager hit something and punctured the tank.

I know and the spare 75 tank that I have has a big dent in it.

said filter (from spare tank) - any idea where to get one?
surprise it wasnt changed every 15k like the manual said

I will check this eastwood thing

edit just remembered that I used Molasses with great success before.

^good to know about that. I'll try molasses first. I cleaned out lots of cast iron before with it, stuff that's been rusty for years, comes out shiny and new looking.
Takes about a week for that stuff to work but the tank should be a lot easier.

any idea where to get filter ?

I would just update the tank to the newer style, or see if you could still get volvo to foot the bill.

Im missing info here

edit.
wonder if this has been done on this one. The throttle cable is in bad shape

Not sure if they have it right, but VP says it's the same as for an 1800E (??). Is yours B20E or B20A? Possible that the same in-tank filter is used for both? At any rate:

And I see now that they also have a fuel tank etching/epoxy kit too!
awesome. thanks. Filter looks the same
looks like i'll be paying the 1800 price for it too:-P
