Clutch cable snapped...

Need some suggestions on finding a replacement part. All I can find is the regular 4cyl style (hydraulic?).

I need the 6 cyl style with the "T" end on the pedal side.

Also... this is a 1981 264 diesel swapped to a 5.0 HO/T-5. Maybe this is an opportunity for an upgrade?

Maybe try looking for the 81 264 diesel with an M46? I haven't seen a clutch cable with a T on the end. Are you sure that isn't a mustang cable something like that?

The standard 4cyl cable hooks up perfectly with a t5... maybe the 260 clutch pedal is different?
The aftermarket ones aren't terrible if you trim the adjuster and inner liner, and then lubricate them with a good cable lube.

4cyl cable has a clevis end, uses a pin that goes through the clutch pedal, through the two parallel ends of the cable.

How does that cable attach to the pedal?

That would take a different end on the pedal. Someone picked a different cars clutch cable for your application. Looks familiar maybe VW golf or Rabbit?

This was on the floor.

It’s original to the car. Was a diesel with a M46/47 manual. I guess diesel and V6 260s with a manual are not too popular in North America. I can find the proper cable in Europe.

Apparently the cable being sold replaces several part numbers. 6814279 is the number for a 200 diesel cable.

From VP's site:

Looks like it's a setup that would let a little less engine vibration through the pedal with that rubber insert in there at the pedal end. Didn't know that setup was like that. Thanks for teaching me something Ian.

Confirmed! Only difference was the ball at the clutch end was a bit smaller. Could have been the manufacturer. Solved with a washer.

I guess I have to keep note of it because the majority of parts catalogues list the regular cable.

Were Diesels and Turbos with a manual transmission from factory that obscure in NA?
