Hard wired tail lights gm socket pictures?

Hello, I was told that some people have used gm bulb sockets to hard wire there 240 tail lights? Anyone have any pictures of the sockets used or final installation?

I hard wired the factory volvo holders

It worked great. Fairly simple to solder wires directly to the holders and make a simple harness. Cheap and simple. Here are a couple pictures;

Where did you get the parts from (LEDs, harness and most importantly the LED flasher relay)? When I first got my 245 I played hell getting the bulb sockets to seat right, I also when through several tail light housings for other reasons. I luckily haven't had any issues for over a year, but would like to make it fool proof like you have.

I made the harnesses myself, pretty easy. All the parts were from Amazon, here are the links:

Red LED 1157 bulbs for tail and brake- you need 4 ( I will explain why in a min)

The reason for needing 4 of the red led bulbs was that the lower ( on my 245) tail/brake
light has a problem just using the LED 1157. The tail light is very bright and when the brake light is on, there is not enought contrast IMHO. As my third brake light was non functional at the time( I have since replaced the tailgate harnesses and it works now) It was a problem. What I did was wire the unused upper red fog lamp to the stop light and installed another red 1157 LED. Work like a champ, can't miss the brake light now.

I would also suggest you do the front turn/running lights along with the third brake light and dome lights. Massive improvement in lighting and less than half the current draw.

You may have to bend the dome light tabs in a bit as I did to make them work.
